The Fantasy Poker League® runs and operates Free Texas Hold ‘Em Poker Tournaments 7 days a week in Austin, Cedar Park, Round Rock and San Marcos. As Austin’s Largest Poker League with over 1000 registered players, TFPL awards entries to the World Series of Poker®1 in Las Vegas with prize pools over $1.5 Million.
TFPL’s roots date all the way back to the Moneymaker effect – the name of the sudden growth of interest in poker after amateur poker player Chris Moneymaker won the 2003 WSOP® Main Event. The company itself has been around for over a decade, but our mission has never changed:
“The Fantasy Poker League is a community of unique individuals who share a common passion to learn and play competitive poker. TFPL strives to create a comfortable, social and fun atmosphere for all players and clients.”
TFPL is absolutely free to play and cash prizes are given out each session – 7 days a week.
To become a member, simply visit any of our locations on a night we play. Signing up to play is your initial league registration. When points are uploaded from that tournament, your name will appear on our League Leaderboard.
As a player, you will accumulate points throughout each 15 week season to be used towards our Main Event, Poker Palooza. Your points = Chips at Palooza, so naturally the more you play, the larger starting stack at our Main Event. 1st place prize at Poker Palooza is a $1,000 seat at the World Series of Poker® in Las Vegas, including airfare and 4-night hotel stay. We give away this prize at least 3 times a year and every player that reaches the Main Event final table will receive a prize.
TFPL is always free to play and is a great way to gain some live experience and make some new like minded friends.
Tournaments average 30-50 players and usually last around 4-5 hours. Players begin with 18,000 in chips and can receive bonus chips for wearing TFPL merchandise or ordering food from our venues. Blind structures for our regular one-session games start at 100/200 and progress every 15 minutes.
TFPL also hosts turbo sessions, usually with two games a night. These are structured with shallower stacks and blind level lengths. Players start with 13,000 in chips.
Players receive 25 points for playing in any game, with additional points awarded to the top 16. Bonus points are awarded for 4-of-a-kind, straight flushes, and royal flushes. Additional bonus points are given for the number of bounty chips a player ends the tournament with (bounty chips are only kept within the top 8 players).
